Istanbul's Jazz State of the City

What is this?

For the yearly Istanbul’s Jazz Festival, it was developed a new algorithm that generates musical notes from Turkish words based on their pronunciation. The algorithm connected to Google Maps through a mobile site which takes the user’s location data and collects surrounding place names like streets. With that data, the platform was thus able to generate notes that reflected the users’ location, gifting them with a unique and personalised jazz song.

Why is it interesting?

The campaign generated engagement taking advantage of users’ location. The campaign hence follows the user and allows for different songs to be generated within a single experience. Easily abominable with complementary technology and ideas, the campaign seems to have a big potential even if applied in different contexts or industries.
