The Big Issue has turned into the world’s first resellable magazine. The magazine comes with a scannable QR code that allows readers to pass it on to a friend, who can scan the code to pay for it again. The initiative will allow vulnerable magazine sellers to earn more and counter the challenges faced by the homeless in an increasingly cashless society
The campaign adds a social layer to traditional QR related ideas, giving the possibility to sellers to earn more and at the same time increase the reach of the magazine itself by adding an engaging feature to it.
Pay It Forward has resulted in an increase of 15% across participating vendor’s weekly sales, meaning they can spend less time selling and more time in employment and financial capability training. With only a £17k investment, Big Issure achieved over 93 million impressions
